According to the Finland VTT technology research center, the dissolution of waste textiles provides an opportunity to reuse large quantities of waste materials for textile production.

The new technology can recycle cellulose fiber textiles, not only breaking through the limitation of landfill disposal, but also promoting the effective utilization of materials.

The directive adopted by the European Union in 1999 contains quantitative restrictions on the gradual disposal of degradable wastes that are stacked in landfills. The EU countries must make decisions on the future disposal of textile wastes.

Finland has introduced regulations to terminate the dumping of textile wastes and will take effect from January 1, 2016.

In view of the treatment of textile waste, Finland is actively studying new industrial solutions.

The VTT Technology Research Center's report shows that the fabric that is worn or even stained with a lot of stains can be obtained as good as the original or better than the original.

The premise of functional recovery is a system for effective recovery and utilization of textiles for environmental considerations.

"Early consideration of recycling is very important at least in the planning stage."

Said Ms. Anna-KaisaAuvinen, managing director of Finland textile and Garment Industry Association (Finatex).

She said: "when

Together with consumers and other stakeholders, efforts will be made to establish a voluntary and practical recycling system, and the best results will be achieved.

We have convened key personnel with a common willingness to develop solutions for textile recycling and development in Finland. "

VTT, Artaud University and Tampere University of Technology jointly develop new regenerated textile fibers in the "cellulose design world" project (a major technological development project of Tekes, Finland national technological innovation Bureau).

At present, scientists are working on the method of separating cellulose molecules from waste textiles such as cotton by means of highly efficient and environmentally friendly solvents.

There are several ways to dissolve cellulose at present, and they have made remarkable progress in the past ten years.

One of them is the Ioncell-F method of Artaud University, which uses ionic solvents developed by University of Helsinki.

VTT's role in the project includes cleaning large staple textiles and preparing suitable forms of cellulose for solvents. Artaud university is responsible for developing the spinning process.
