Import Analysis Of The Latest US Footwear Products

According to the statistics of the US Department of Commerce, the import volume of footwear products in the United States reached US $16 billion 510 million in 2004, an increase of 5.79% compared with 2003.

The major importing countries include China, Italy, Brazil, Indonesia and Vietnam. In 2004, the import volume of footwear products from the 5 countries accounted for 68.77%, 7.58%, 6.55%, 2.99% and 2.88% of the total imports of footwear products.

The US imports of footwear from China amounted to US $11 billion 350 million, an increase of 7.45% compared with 2003, while the US imports from Vietnam increased by 44.98%, continuing to show a trend of rapid growth.

In terms of quantity, the United States imported 2 billion 147 million pairs of finished shoes in 2004, an increase of 7.53% compared with 2003.

The proportion of leather, plastic, non waterproof, textile, plastic, non waterproof and other footwear is 42%, 38.81%, 7.95%, 0.65% and 10.59% respectively.

In 2004, the United States imported 1 billion 792 million pairs of finished shoes from China, accounting for 83.46% of the total imports of its finished products, representing an increase of 10.4% compared with 2003.

In 2004, the average price of imported shoes in the United States was 6.27 US dollars per pair, up 10.39% compared with 2003, and the average price of finished shoes imported from China was 5.44%, up 5.44% compared with 2003.

In the 1 quarter of this year, US footwear imports totaled US $4 billion 414 million, an increase of 8.78% compared with the same period last year.

Among them, imports from China amounted to $3 billion 69 million, an increase of 11.43% over the same period last year, accounting for 69.52% of the total imports of footwear products in the United States and a further expansion of the market share.

In the US footwear import market, other suppliers include Italy, Brazil, Vietnam and Indonesia. In the 1 quarter of this year, the import volume of footwear products from the United States accounted for 7.49%, 6.37%, 3.47% and 3.08% of its total imports respectively.

In terms of quantity, the total imports of manufactured shoes in the 1 quarter amounted to 626 million pairs, representing an increase of 6.69% over the same period last year.

Among them, the import volume from China was 530 million pairs, an increase of 9.11% over the same period last year, accounting for 84.66% of the total imports of footwear products in the United States.
