Chinese environmentalists also list Tesco, Lining, Polo, TOMMYHILFIGER, fast fashion brand Zara (Zara) and JCPenney company to buy products from Chinese enterprises with illegal pollution records.

The report was carried out by friends of nature, IPEA, green beagle, friends of the environment and Nanjing green stone. The report pointed out that there are over 6000 environmental violations committed by Chinese textile enterprises.

According to China's water pollution map data recorded by the Institute of public and Environmental Affairs (IPEA), the problems they found include secret discharge pipes, direct discharge of sewage, improper use of wastewater treatment facilities, and pollutant discharge in violation of statutory standards.

China's textile industry accounts for half of the world's total, while China's textile and clothing exports account for 34% of world trade. However, the textile industry produces nearly 25 million tons of sewage and other pollutants annually, polluting rivers, lakes, atmosphere and oceans, and even soil and groundwater.

The report found that the amount of wastewater discharged from dyeing processes accounted for 80% of the total wastewater discharge in the textile industry and contained many harmful substances. In addition, water reuse in the textile industry lags behind many other industries, "creating a situation where water use efficiency is unbelievably low."

environmental protection In the report, the group called for the investigation of the supply chain of brands and retailers to achieve more green procurement.

They also believe that mutual cooperation is the key to overcome the pollution problem in the textile industry, including strengthening government regulation, improving information spanparency, putting pressure on their suppliers by clothing brands and retailers to reduce pollution emissions, and forming a "sense of environmental responsibility" in the textile industry.
