Anti-Dumping

As the EU's largest shoe maker, Italy's voice plays a pivotal role in the EU. Italy's attitude towards China's footwear industry also affects the trend of trade disputes between China and Europe.

In this connection, we interviewed the vice chairman of the footwear manufacturers association of Chengdu (FrancoBallin), who came to Italy to attend the 2007 International Forum of women's shoes in China (FrancoBallin).

At present, the anti-dumping duties imposed by the European Union on China's footwear industry were adopted at a time of 12 to 13, while Italy was a hardliners who agreed to impose punitive tariffs. At the same time, Italy is also one of the most widely developed European countries with Chinese shoe companies. What is Italy's attitude towards the Chinese footwear industry? Bahrain: we must stress that our two sides are not enemies.

Within the European Union or in Italy, there is not just one voice.

Personally, as well as the view of the Italy Footwear Manufacturers Association, the current anti-dumping duties and other trade barriers have no advantages to the two sides, and only make the agreements which may have been reached become more and more distant.

In fact, Italy products and Chinese products have their own advantages.

Chinese products are low in price and large in quantity, while Italy products are the main high-end market. Both sides can coexist in the same market, and can even join hands to occupy the middle market.

We can not rule out the existence of different voices in the question of whether we should impose punitive tariffs, but the key is to hear what the mainstream voice is.

What is the mainstream voice now? Bahrain: now the EU is divided into two schools.

One group represents buyers, and they oppose the Levy of anti-dumping duties against China, because for buyers, the introduction of anti-dumping duties means an increase in costs.

The other is represented by manufacturers.

When initially discussing anti-dumping duties on China, most manufacturers voted in favour.

As far as I am concerned and I am concerned, we have been opposed to levying anti-dumping duties and opposing trade barriers.

In the tense trading environment, how should Italy cooperate with Chinese shoe enterprises? Bahrain: now the trade frictions between China and Europe are increasing. The most important thing is that both sides have good intentions. This is the beginning of all cooperation.

At present, the scale of cooperation between Italy enterprises and Chinese counterparts is expanding, and the relationship between them will only be more and more close.

In the top shoe making area of Italy, the Venetian area, which produces high-end products, is considering cooperation projects in Chengdu, providing manpower support to enterprises in Chengdu.

The Venetian shoemaking technology school is currently discussing with Sichuan University the training plan for talents training.

In addition, the "I love Italy shoes" project, which provides the image support for the global shoe making enterprises, is negotiating with a powerful Chinese company. It is not convenient to disclose which company it is.

This project has developed quite smoothly outside China.
