Zhejiang Shoe Industry Rationally Treats WTO'S New Ruling

Hangzhou customs statistics show that in the first eight months of this year, in the top three export markets of footwear products in our province, exports to the EU grew by only 8.8%, the lowest.


"The biggest problem in the industry is not the volume of exports."

Xie Rongfang, Secretary General of Wenzhou shoe leather industry association, told reporters that in recent years, Wenzhou shoes export still maintained a sustained growth trend through expanding the emerging markets such as Russia and ASEAN. In 2010, the total export volume of footwear in Wenzhou was 3 billion 740 million US dollars, which has exceeded 3 billion US dollars in the first 8 months of this year. However, the increase in export value has not changed significantly, and this year has been constrained by various rising costs and the situation is more severe.


Emerging markets are also becoming less secure.

According to the statistics of the Fair Trade Bureau of the Provincial Department of Commerce, at present, the emerging market has already accounted for half of the trade disputes encountered in our province.

"This is an important signal. Zhejiang enterprises, including shoe companies, must speed up the pformation of export mode and realize the pition from a low cost advantage to a high value-added one."
