In the early nineteenth Century, when the west wind spread eastward, the traditional Chinese clothing called "Ben Gang" was faced with new reforms.

A group of tailors from Ningbo embarked on the historical stage with a ruler and scissors.



Fenghua is the hometown of Hong Bang tailor.



A narrow room, a door plank on two high benches, a gray cloth on the door plank, a bunch of different colors, an iron, a ruler, a pair of scissors, and a few needles are all the tools and tools of the tailor.

Once you have made your clothes, use a white cloth that is bigger than the eight immortals tabletop, and send it to the customer's home. You can also wrap the customer's fabric with this white cloth, cut it, sew it, and send it again.

To earn some manual money, people call this tailor the boss of a baggage shop.



The boss of this kind of baggage shop was many in Shanghai at that time, mostly for Ningbo people, and Ningbo people were mostly living in Fenghua.

The Fenghua tailor also dressed up as a Western-style clothes in Shanghai. At that time, foreigners who called blue eyed red hair were red haired, so the Ningbo people who made western-style suits for foreigners were collectively referred to as "Hong Bang tailors".



"Red gang tailor" became the proper name of Ningbo people.



In the history of Chinese clothing, "Hong Bang tailors" created five first: China's first suit, the first set of Chinese tunic suits, the first Western-style clothes shop, the first Western-style clothes theoretical works, the first western craft school.

Ningbo has also become the birthplace of modern Chinese dress culture.
