China Announces 09 Years' Environmental Report Card &Nbsp; Pollution Reduction Is Better Than Expected.

The Ministry of environmental protection of China issued the communiqu on China's environmental situation 2009 3.

On the marine environment, the water quality of China's offshore waters is generally mild.

Compared with the previous year, there was no significant change in water quality.

In 2009, red tides were found 68 times in the whole sea area, the same as last year.

In terms of atmospheric environment, the proportion of environmental air quality in cities above the city level is 79.6%, and that in County cities is 85.6%.

Air quality has improved over the previous year.

Acid rain is found in 258 of the 488 cities monitored.

Acid rain distribution area remained stable, but acid rain pollution was still heavy.

In terms of land and rural environment, China has an area of 3 million 569 thousand and 200 square kilometers of soil and water, accounting for 37.2% of the total area of the country.

Environmental problems in rural areas have become increasingly prominent. Urban pollution has accelerated to rural areas, and rural ecological degradation has not yet been effectively curbed.

Zhang Lijun said that the Ministry of environmental protection will strengthen the EIA this year, intensify law enforcement supervision, make efforts to solve the prominent environmental problems such as heavy metal pollution, promote pollution prevention and control in key river basins, promote environmental protection and ecological protection in rural areas, and comprehensively promote the formulation of the "environmental protection plan for 12th Five-Year".
