Because the US Congress is considering revising the consumer product safety act, garment manufacturers are seeking more flexibility in testing and reporting requirements so that they can take priority in more and more countries.

2008 the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) gives the consumer product safety committee (CPSC) a wide range of new powers to manage children under 12 years of age and below, but industry and regulators believe that the cost of product safety committee may go too far.

Therefore, the Subcommittee on commerce, trade and consumer protection under the house of Representatives is considering the development of the consumer product safety enhancement act, which will solve the "unexpected consequences" of many people's early actions in the industry because it has caused considerable confusion and unnecessary costs.

At the AAFA meeting of the Subcommittee, Levi, President of New York children's clothing wholesaler StarRideKids, called on the Congress to reduce the flexibility of the consumer product safety committee (CPSC) in writing, so as to reduce the testing and certification requirements of the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) required by the Ministry of consumer protection (AAFA).

Levi pointed out that, for example, it is well known that textiles do not contain lead, but CPSIA requires testing and proving the lead content of clothing textile components, which is overregulated.

Levi said the US clothing and Footwear Association (AAFA) supports the power granted to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission to allow the test and certification of small businesses to be reduced, but all enterprises should enjoy this exemption, regardless of size.

He warned that such a system would give equal treatment to all ingredients and raw materials.

Levi said that if testing is focused on products that are reasonably believed to have the risk of lead content, consumer safety will be better served.

Levi said that more work needs to be done to ensure that CPSIA seize the national and local product safety rules. Only in this way can we achieve a single and unified national product safety standard.
