Exports hurt neighbouring textile manufacturers, such as Bangladesh and Pakistan, and also affect exporters in India.

India abruptly stopped exports of raw cotton, aiming to ease domestic price increases, as domestic prices surged by more than 25% since October last year.

The government says it also wants to ensure India's own home.

And the supply of cotton in the textile industry.

Dhiren Sheth, President of the India Cotton Association, said that the suspension of exports would damage India's image as a reliable cotton supplier.

India has become the second largest exporter of cotton in the world.

Sheth said: "the brand value of India cotton made by us is being damaged.

This will cause many buyers to be confused in thinking, and they will be discounted for India cotton because of the uncertainty of India's increasing risk price.

The moratorium on exports may also affect the booming garment export industry in neighbouring Pakistan and Bangladesh.

It is worrying that India's actions may trigger global price increases, thereby weakening the competitiveness of its neighbors in the textile market.

Many textile mills in South Asian countries rely on India cotton.

They are now working hard to ensure adequate cotton supply from other countries.

The suspension of exports will also hurt farmers in India, which may increase the uncertainty of cotton production next year.
