Export Garments

  印度纺织工业联盟(CITI)欢迎政府做出的决定,即根据市场重点产品计划,恢复对美国和欧洲出口服装2%的免税措施。

ShriShishirJaipuria, chairman of the India Textile Industry Federation, said in a statement that the move will help India garment exporters to regain their market share in Europe and the United States. They lost market share in Europe and the United States due to the global economic crisis.

CITI chairman said that during the economic crisis, because of fierce competition from Vietnam, Bangladesh and China, the export of clothing exporters in India, especially the market share of SMEs exported to the US and Europe, was damaged.

ShriShishirJaipuria said the clothing industry in India is under severe pressure because of the decrease in Western imports, because 60% of clothing is exported to these countries.

The recovery of incentives will help the apparel industry to increase market share in the US and Europe, and encourage them to diversify the market to other potential global markets.

He pointed out that similar incentives need to be extended to the home textile industry, because the home textile industry also belongs to the value-added industry, and also lost the Western import market share in the economic crisis.
